- Dalam laporan sinop hujan di baca tiap 3 jam yaitu jam 00, 03, 06, 09, 12, 15, 18, dan 21 UTC.
- Sandi 0 dan 1 hanya dilaporkan pada jam 00,06,12,18 UTC jika terjadi hujan.
- Untuk jam antara, seperti 03,09,15,21 UTC jika terjadi hujan menggunakan sandi 2.
Yang membedakan antara sandi 0 dan 1 adalah saat terjadinya hujan. Bila hujan terjadi 3 jam terakhir sebelum jam 00,06,12,18 UTC , maka sandi iR adalah sandi 0.
Contoh :
jam 4.30 UTC, di Cilacap terjadi hujan. Maka pengamatan jam 06.00 UTC sandi iR menggunakan 0.
Untuk sandi 1, sama saja seperti sandi 0, yaitu digunakan pada jam utama saja, yaitu pada jam 00,06,12,18 UTC. Namun perbedaannya terletak pada terjadinya hujan.
- Jika 3 jam sebelum jam utama terjadi hujan, saat jam utama sandi iR yang digunakan pasti sandi 0
- Jika 3 jam sebelum jam utama tidak ada hujan, sedangkan 6 jam sebelum jam utama terjadi hujan, maka iR menggunakan sandi 1.
Contoh :
Hujan terjadi pada jam 02.20 UTC. Setelah itu jam 03.00 UTC hujan berhenti hingga jam 06.00 UTC. Maka saat pengamatan jam 06 UTC, sandi iR yang digunakan bukan sandi 0, tapi sandi 1.

iX merupakan sandi pengenal keadaan cuaca yaitu cuaca bermakna atau tidak bermakna.
Maksudnya bermakna yaitu yang berpengaruh secara significant terhadap kehidupan manusia, seperti terjadi petir, terjadi hujan, terjadi hujan+petir, terjadi kabut, dan fenomena significant lainnya. Untuk sandi lengkapnya, dapat dilihat di buku TTP sinoptik tabel 1860. Namun yang sering digunakan di lapangan hanya 2 sandi, yaitu :

Perlu diingat dalam menghitung interval waktu pengamatannya. Dalam jam pengamatan itu ada Jam Utama (00,06,12,18 UTC) dan Jam Antara (03,09,15,21 UTC) dan Jam Biasa (01, 02, 04, 05, 07, 08, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22 ,23 UTC). Dalam menghitung interval waktunya sebagai berikut :
- Untuk jam utama (00,06,12,18 UTC) keadaan cuaca yang berlalu dilihat adalah hingga 6 jam sebelum jam pengamatan itu.
- Untuk jam antara (03,09,15,21 UTC) keadaan cuaca yang dilihat adalah hingga 3 jam sebelum jam pengamatan itu.
- Untuk jam biasa cuaca yang dilihat hanya pada 1 jam sebelum pengamatan itu.

Untuk sandi lengkapnya dapat dilihat di buku TTP pengamatan sinop pada Tabel 1600. Sandi yang saya bahas disini hanya sandi yang biasa digunakan dalam pengamatan cuaca synoptik. Dalam menentukan tinggi dasar awan, semua tergantung pada prakiraan setiap observer. Namun ada jangkauan nya, jangan asal memprakirakan tinggi awan. Sandi yang biasa digunakan untuk tinggi dasar awan rendah ada 3, yaitu :

VV adalah sandi jarak pandang terjauh dimana suatu objek dapat terlihat dengan jelas (visibility).
Visibility, dilihatlah ke segala arah, kemudian dipakai visibility yang paling rendah. Contohnya dia arah utara kira-kira visibility 5km, selatan, 8 km, barat 7 km, maka visibility yang dipakai adalah yang terdekat yaitu 5km.
Untuk sandi visibility lengkap dalam, dapat dilihat di buku TTP pengamataan sinop Tabel 4377. Dalam pelaksanaannya visibility di kelompokan dalam beberapa group dan yang sering dipakai adalah dibawah 5km, dan 5km โ 30 km.
Untuk grup dibawah 5 km, dihitungnya tiap 100 meter. jadi ubahlah dulu satuannya menjadi meter, setelah itu dibagi dengan angka 100. Contohnya visibility 1700 meter. Maka sandinya adalah 1700 : 100 = 17 dan seterusnya.
Untuk grup antara 5km โ 30 km, dihitung tiap 1 km, jadi satuannya dalam km. Setelah itu tambahkan dengan angka 50. Contohnya, visibility 7 km, maka sandinya adalah 50+7= 57
Hal yang lebih penting untuk diketahui adalah, visibility dibulatkan ke bawah. Jadi semisal visibility 6.750 meter. Karena termasuk ke dalam grup antara 5km โ 30 km, maka dihitung tiap 1 km. Jadi dibulatkan kebawah menjadi 6 km. Setelah itu sandinya menjadi 6+50=56.
